Youth Tutor 
Location: Manukau
Full-time | Permanent | On-site

About the role:  

As a Youth Tutor, you will deliver engaging, practical training to our Level 2 Youth Guarantee learners while fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every ākonga feels welcomed, valued, and encouraged to succeed. Through high-quality teaching, mentoring, and pastoral care, you will support learners to build confidence, develop practical skills, and successfully progress into further study. Working closely with the Learner Success team and wider campus staff, you will help ensure every learner receives the guidance and support they need to achieve positive educational outcomes. 

In this role, you will: 

  • Plan and deliver creative, hands-on lessons aligned to programme outcomes. 

  • Monitor learner progress and provide timely assessment and feedback. 

  • Build strong relationships with support services, and community partners. 

  • Maintain accurate learner records and meet NZQA compliance requirements. 

  • Contribute to programme development and continuous improvement initiatives. 

About you:  

You have a genuine interest in supporting young people and enjoy creating engaging, practical learning experiences that help learners develop the skills and confidence they need for their next step. You are approachable, organised, and able to build positive relationships with learners while maintaining high expectations and a supportive classroom environment. 

  • Strong background working with youth 

  • Experience teaching, training, coaching, or mentoring others is desirable. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • The ability to engage and motivate learners from a range of backgrounds. 

  • Good organisational and administrative skills. 

  • A commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive teaching practices. 

  • Experience teaching youth or adult learners in a tertiary/relevant education environment preferred but not essential
