Mission & Role

The AMWA Decarbonization team is seeking a Working Student (f/m/d) for 10–20 hours/week to support strategic decarbonization initiatives focusing on our AMWA (Africa-Mediterranean-Western Asia) region. This position is based in Heidelberg, Germany, with the possibility of remote work.

In this role, you will contribute to Heidelberg Materials' sustainability and transformation journey by supporting country decarbonization roadmaps, data analytics, performance dashboards, project tracking, and change management. You will work in a cross-functional, international and dynamic environment, gaining hands-on experience in sustainability transformation and change management within one of the world's leading building materials companies.

Your Responsibilities

Transformation & Change Management

  • Support preparation of leadership workshops, roadmap reviews, and portfolio deep dives. Prepare presentations and communication materials for management audiences

  • Organize knowledge-sharing initiatives and best-practice exchanges across countries. Capture lessons learned and best practices and

  • Support coordination between country teams, technical functions, and corporate stakeholders on decarbonization topics

Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Conduct structured data analysis and benchmarking across countries and regions to support data-based decision making

  • Maintain and further develop Power BI, Tableau and Excel-based performance dashboards

  • Conduct research around current decarbonization transformation topics, including desk research, personal interviews, and surveys. Support the development of business cases

Project Management

  • Coordinate decarbonization project tracking and action follow-up

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project management and reporting processes

  • Support creation of visual management reports and executive summaries

Your Profile

Education

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Psychology, Business Administration, Sustainability Management, Environmental Engineering, Data Analytics, Economics or a related field

Skills & Experience

  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills

  • Excellent command of Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience with Power BI and Tableau is a plus

  • Interest in sustainability, industrial decarbonization and change management

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Fluency in English; German or French are a plus

  • Curious, eager to learn and reliable

  • Proactive and self-driven

  • Comfortable working in an international environment

  • Passionate about sustainability and business transformation
