Responsibilities

Your Role:

As a Waste Collection Driver Helper, you will team with a Driver to assist in the collection of waste and recyclable material.

• Assist the Driver in the collection of waste and recyclable materials from residential, commercial, and industrial sites
• Ensure waste is properly sorted and loaded into the collection vehicle
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulatory requirements
• Communicate with the driver and other team members to ensure efficient route completion
• Handle customer inquiries and provide excellent customer service
• Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of the vehicle
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT requirements
• Report any issues or incidents to the driver or supervisor promptly
• Must be able to consistently lift, push, and pull bags and receptacles that weigh 50-75+ pounds

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in waste management or a similar role is a plus
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks for extended periods
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Attention to detail and a commitment to safety
• Valid driver’s license preferred but not required
• Preferred: Bilingual (Spanish or Creole)
