Job description

Specialising in premium pet foods and accessories, Absolute Pets is the leading pet retailer in South Africa with over 200 stores across the country.

Our team of experts is looking for a Warehouse Supervisor for the Inventory department at our Johannesburg warehouse based in Kempton Park.

If you want to join our team, these will be the key areas that you will need to be responsible for:

Inventory Management

  • Facilitate daily stock counts with the inventory team and investigate variances providing accurate and detailed reports to management
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure a consistent flow of stock from IBT’s to locations and ensure that any backlogs are being attended to so to avoid stock imbalances and shrinkage
  • Manage and execute weekly cyclical stock counts and investigate variances providing accurate and detailed reports to management
  • Prepare warehouse for semi-annual stock counts ensuring that stock accuracy is maintained through a consistent approach to inventory management, supplier returns, damages, expiries and IBT management (Damages 0.15% Stock losses 0.15% and Expiries 0.05% or stock transfers)
  • Manage daily and weekly demand replenishments and forced replenishments to ensure stock availability for picking to continue in an accurate and efficient manner
  • Investigate items on the short pick reports and provide detailed feedback on reasons and actions – Maintain a short pick percentage of less than 2% across the warehouse
  • Manage rotation of stock and daily expiry checks to identify soon to expire stock and reduce write offs
  • Manage warehouse damages and proper reporting and recording of stock returned for credits – Follow up on credit notes with the Inbound supervisor and ensure damages are processed out of Ador5 and that the stock is assigned to the relevant buckets – Donations, Repacks, Supplier Returns and External recovery (Stillgood/Refreshi)
  • Manage the supplier returns and credits process for warehouse damages and recalls ensuring a quick turnaround and processing of credits in the system to reflect accurate stock balances
  • Ensure that damaged stock does not build up in the warehouse by maintaining communications with suppliers to collect stock frequently and follow up on credit notes
  • Facilitate the preparation of weekly KPI reports and daily handovers to management ensuring that there is detailed feedback on items that require attention as well as outputs and accuracy audits
  • Work closely with departments to maintain a high level of stock accuracy through proper communication and reporting

Staff Management

  • Manage team of stock clerks and warehouse inventory assistants
  • Drive a culture of accountability and responsibility
  • Work closely with all warehouse departments and support office
  • Contribute to achievement of warehouse KPIs
  • Take the necessary corrective action should there be any deviation from agreed processes, policies or procedures
