The Visiting Scholar will support interdisciplinary research activities focused on agricultural systems, controlled environment agriculture, remote sensing, precision agriculture, and data-driven decision support. The position involves field experimentation, field and laboratory data collection, spatial and statistical analyses, GIS mapping, and support for ongoing research projects.

Experimental Support

  • Assist with field experiments including planting, monitoring, maintenance, and data collection.
  • Collect phenotypic, environmental, and agronomic measurements from greenhouse trials and other experimental setups.
  • Maintain accurate records of experimental protocols, observations, and datasets.
  • Support sensor deployment, calibration, and operation for greenhouse and field studies.
  • Assist with sample preparation, measurements, and basic laboratory procedures as needed.

Data Management and Analyses

  • Organize, clean, and manage experimental datasets.
  • Conduct statistical analyses and develop visualizations using software such as R, Python, MATLAB, or similar platforms.
  • Support machine learning or predictive modeling efforts for agricultural datasets when applicable.
  • Prepare summary reports, figures, and interpretation of results for meetings and publications.

GIS and Spatial Analyses

  • Conduct GIS analyses including spatial data processing, mapping, and visualization using software such as ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.
  • Support analyses involving remote sensing, UAV imagery, environmental datasets, and geospatial modeling.
  • Develop maps and spatial products for research projects, presentations, and publications.

Research and Project Support

  • Assist with multiple ongoing research projects involving precision agriculture, sustainability, digital agriculture, or environmental systems.
  • Contribute to literature reviews, manuscript preparation, technical reports, and grant-related activities.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams.
  • Support outreach, training activities, and dissemination of project outcomes when needed.

Minimum Requirements-

Master's degree in sanitization technology or food technology or closely related field.
