Job description

OVERVIEW                                                                          

Civic Nation seeks a Video Assistant for its Communications team to provide support in the creation and editing of short-form, social-first video content across Civic Nation’s initiatives. The Assistant, reporting to the Senior Director, Video Strategy & Production, will assist the social and video teams in producing engaging content for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts, contributing to campaigns tied to real-time moments, cultural conversations, and civic engagement efforts.

This is a part-time temporary role working up to 30 hours per week, concluding December 15, 2026.

The Communications Team is focused on telling the story of Civic Nation’s work. Through creative messaging, digital activations, media relations, and more, the Communications Team amplifies the work of all Civic Nation initiatives and campaigns.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Support the creation and editing of short-form video content optimized for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
  • Assist with editing social-first videos tied to cultural moments, campaigns, and civic engagement initiatives
  • Incorporate captions, graphics, and platform-specific pacing to improve social media performance
  • Collaborate with the social and video teams to revise content based on feedback
  • Track emerging trends in social video and digital culture to inform content ideas
  • Support content organization, file management, and production workflows

YOUR EXPERIENCE 

  • Be a recent graduate and/or currently enrolled in college or university
  • Familiarity with short-form video platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts
  • Basic experience with video editing tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools is a plus

  • Strong interest in social media trends, internet culture, and digital storytelling
  • Creative instincts for engaging short-form content and strong visual pacing
  • Ability to take direction and incorporate feedback quickly

  • Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Interest in civic engagement, culture, and social impact work

SALARY 

The Washington, DC-based salary for this position is $18.40/hour. This role will work between 20-30 hours per week and conclude on December 15, 2026.
