Job Summary:

This role leads the architectural design and end-to-end delivery of mission-critical post-trade systems, covering clearing, settlement and collateral management of financial instruments. You will manage a team of developers, drive technical excellence, and deliver secure, resilient and scalable solutions across the full software development lifecycle, including production support.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead solution architecture and system design for high-availability, high-throughput post-trade platforms and services.
  • Take full ownership and accountability for delivery across the SDLC (requirements, design, development, testing, and implementation); manage delivery across complex stakeholder groups.
  • Drive parallel delivery across multiple workstreams by planning, prioritising, and coordinating resources across internal teams and vendors where applicable.
  • Provide engineering leadership on modern backend practices (microservices, cloud/container, messaging/streaming) and enforce coding, security, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional technology and business teams to translate requirements into robust technical designs and implementation approaches.
  • Manage production support of mission-critical system, lead production incident and problem management (investigation, resolution, root cause analysis and prevention) and drive continuous improvement for stability and performance.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in system design and development
  • Minimum 5 years in a management and/or technical leadership capacity, with proven experience leading developers and owning delivery outcomes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with an analytical mindset and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Strong track record delivering mission-critical systems with complex stakeholder environments; excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Java engineering, including API design, concurrency, performance tuning, and troubleshooting production issues.
  • Strong experience with microservice architecture, containers/Kubernetes, messaging/streaming (e.g. Kafka, ActiveMQ), Linux and database; solid understanding of cloud-native patterns is preferred.
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps/engineering toolchains (e.g., source control, CI/CD, unit/integration testing, static analysis, artifact management) and quality practices.
  • Prior experience in vendor management and application security (e.g. OAuth2, API security, etc.) would be an advantage.
