Role: Vice President – Maritime & Offshore Investment Banking

Location: Athens, Greece

Role Overview
As a Vice President in the Maritime & Offshore Investment Banking team in Athens, you will assume a leadership role in executing and overseeing complex transactions (debt, equity, hybrid) in the maritime/offshore sector. You will act as a key interface with clients (ship-owners, financiers, investors), lead transaction teams, and contribute significantly to business development and deal origination, under the direction of Directors and Managing Partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of major mandates: structuring and execution of debt, equity and hybrid financings, M&A and restructuring transactions in the maritime/offshore sector.
  • Oversee development of detailed financial models, valuation analyses and scenario/sensitivity work for vessel, fleet and corporate financing structures.
  • Supervise preparation of investment memoranda, offering documents, investor materials and presentations — guiding the team and ensuring high quality output.
  • Act as primary client contact in many transactions: engaging with ship-owners, banks, direct lenders, funds, private equity, and other capital providers.
  • Lead due-diligence workstreams (financial, commercial, technical) and coordinate external advisors (legal, technical, tax) and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive business development: identify and originate new mandates, expand client base in shipping/offshore, propose financing or advisory solutions proactively.
  • Mentor and manage Associates and Analysts: review their work, provide feedback, support career development of junior team members.
  • Contribute to internal strategy: help refine sector focus, input into marketing, participate in industry conferences and client events.

Requirements:

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Typically 5–8+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, structured finance, merchant banking or investment management, with significant exposure to shipping, transport, oil & gas or offshore sectors.
  • Strong track record executing complex debt and equity transactions (including hybrid instruments) in the maritime/offshore sector.
  • Advanced financial modelling and valuation skills; comfortable leading model development and challenging assumptions.
  • Excellent presentation, writing and communication skills in English; Greek language proficiency is desirable.
  • Client-facing experience: confident interacting with senior management, investors, lenders and other stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage deal teams, coordinate advisors and drive transactions to closing.
  • Strong commercial and strategic thinking, ability to originate new mandates, network in shipping/offshore markets and identify opportunities.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and team management capabilities.
