We are seeking a talented individual to join our Risk Consulting team at Marsh as a Vice-President / Engagement Lead, Forensic Accounting Claims Services (FACS). This is a hybrid role and can be based in any of our offices located in Canada.

This consulting position will be responsible for managing complex client engagements, as well as assisting in growing the practice group in Canada while collaborating with a larger global team.  It will require effective delivery or proposal of valued services for clients and prospects.  Engagements might generally entail insurance loss measurement and claims preparation services, as well as expert forensic accounting assistance for financial investigations to quantify damages resulting from catastrophic events, litigation or disputes.

We will count on you to:

  • Apply knowledge of financial damages and measures of lost profits to develop financial models to assist clients in the preparation of losses in either an insurance or litigation context
  • Ability to synthesize and analyze large data sets and complex business models across diverse industry sectors and to create work product that can be readily digested and scrutinized
  • Ability to communicate complex analysis to clients, attorneys’ and other senior stakeholders.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to enable strong business level conversations in adversarial settings of litigation and dispute resolution
  • Ability to lead and project manage engagements, participate actively in client discussions and contribute to the practice in driving superior results for our clients
  • Willingness to take the initiative to develop deep industry expertise in key industry sectors (Course of Construction, Mining, Energy, Financial Services, etc.)
  • Willingness to help drive wider practice initiatives in the adoption of technology and driving increased operational efficiency of the practice
  • Willingness to travel

What you need to have: 

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics or Economics,
  • CPA, CBV, CFA, and/or CFE designation(s)
  • 3 to 7 years familiarity with general accounting and finance terms and concepts, as well as with income statements, profit and loss statements,  and other common financial documentation
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant professional experience in insurance claim quantification (specifically with Business Interruption Losses), litigation support, and/or forensic accounting services is required.
  • Exceptional project management skills – ability to manage client expectations, proactively identify / address roadblocks and interim milestones to fulfill deliverables, while coordinating with internal stakeholders such as brokers, account teams, and other teams within the Analytics and Consulting Practice
  • Exceptional problem solving skills to address unique problems that may arise within the context of major and/or complex insurance claims
  • Advanced level of proficiency with MS Excel (including VBA), skills in SQL or other database experience is a plus, visualization/analytics applications is a plus

What makes you stand out?

  • Previous experience leading and resolving major and/or complex insurance claims, especially within the context of Business Interruption Losses.
  • Expertise in in key industry sectors such Course of Construction, Mining, Energy, Financial Services, etc.
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance programs – including mainstream property policies and ideally specialty insurance (examples include Cyber, Product Recall, Fidelity and Stock Throughput)
  • Ability to communicate in both English and French.
