We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux/Unix System Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, configuration, and maintenance of our Unix-based systems. This role requires deep technical knowledge of Unix operating systems, as well as strong problem-solving and communication skills.

The role requires hands-on expertise with enterprise Unix/Linux platforms, specifically IBM AIX, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Debian, including production operations, troubleshooting, patching, automation, security hardening and high-availability clustering.

Act as a Level 3 technical reference for Unix/Linux infrastructure, including AIX/RHEL/Debian internals, storage/filesystems, networking, authentication, backup/restore, performance tuning and cluster technologies such as HP Serviceguard, Bull ARF, Pacemaker and Corosync.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support AIX, RHEL, and Debian systems (installation, configuration, patching, upgrades)
  • Manage high availability environments (HP Serviceguard, Pacemaker/Corosync, Bull ARF)
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and performance analysis (CPU, memory, I/O, network, kernel, applications)
  • Implement and maintain security and hardening standards (SSH, sudo, PAM, firewalls, SELinux, auditing, access control)
  • Support backup and disaster recovery (mksysb, NIM, restores, DR testing)
  • Automate tasks using Bash/KSH/Python and Ansible
  • Participate in on-call rotation and DR/failover validation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DBA, application, storage, network, security)
  • Maintain technical documentation and runbooks
  • 5–10+ years of experience in Unix/Linux production environments
  • Strong expertise in:
    • IBM AIX (LPAR, VIOS, NIM, LVM, JFS2)
    • RHEL and Debian
  • Solid knowledge of:
    • HA clustering, storage (SAN/NAS, multipath), networking (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs)
    • Advanced system troubleshooting
  • Scripting and automation experience (Ansible preferred)
  • Strong understanding of system security and compliance
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English
