Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM) and Tufts Medicine (TM) Health System are expanding their research affiliation to further develop collaborative, forward-looking, multidisciplinary translational research efforts. The joint mission of the TU-TM Research Enterprise is to advance health justice through multidisciplinary research across the translational spectrum to solve the most pressing health problems of our society. To grow the TU-TM Research Enterprise, we are hiring clusters of collaborative investigators at all career levels (Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor) into basic and clinical science departments at TUSM. The goal of these cluster hires is to build basic, translational, clinical and policy level research expertise aligned with 5 strategic themes:

  • Cancer Biology, Care & Survivorship

  • Cardiovascular Disease & Critical Care

  • Transplant Immunity & Infection

  • Women’s Health, Nutrition & Sex Differences

We are soliciting submissions from individuals who are eager to participate in collaborative research as well as from teams of investigators who would come to Tufts to work together. These positions will exist within the rich research environment of the TUSM Boston campus with collaborations extending across all Tufts University Schools and clinical partners. Faculty may be appointed in any of our basic science departments, clinical departments, or research institutes.

Competitive applicants will:

  • Hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree.

  • Have a track record of impactful publishing and robust research support, as appropriate to their career stage.

  • Bring state-of-the-art methods and capabilities that can add to Tufts transdisciplinary translational research capacity.

  • Develop thriving, well-funded research programs and participate in graduate and medical student teaching and mentoring.

  • Be able to articulate a vision of how their expertise can integrate with existing assets at Tufts to collaboratively and impactfully address unmet needs in biomedical science and clinical medicine.

  • Demonstrate research interest and expertise in one or more of the 5 strategic pillars of the TU-TM Research Enterprise as listed above.

Tufts has robust core facilities, flourishing graduate and medical education, a community of research-focused academics and clinicians, and structured mentorship and support for all faculty. The Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) has active shared research and education programs with Jackson Laboratories, Maine Medical Center, MIT, Northeastern University, and other partners. These resources and more will be available to support the research, teaching, collaborative, and clinical efforts of new investigators.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until all positions are filled. Please submit electronic applications by applying through this posting.
