YOUR APPLICATION IS STILL BEING CONSIDERED. **</strong></div>Serves as the Assistant Geotechnical Design Policy Engineer and primarily develops the Earth Retaining Structures Design Manual under the general supervision of the Geotechnical Design Policy Engineer while assisting with the development of the Geotechnical Design Manual; development of Supplemental and Supplemental Technical Specifications; development of design procedures including the development of spreadsheets; and development of training.<br><br>Assists in the development of research initiatives; conducts research (literature reviews) and determines the implications of the research on Design Policy as required by either the Geotechnical Design Policy Engineer or the Geotechnical Design Support Engineer.<br><br>Develops and/or reviews Acceleration Design Response Spectra as requested in a timely manner. Conducts reviews of Site Responses Analyses. Performs quality assurance as assigned by the Geotechnical Design Policy Engineer.<br><br>Develops databases consisting of geotechnical data such as shear strengths, pile load test data, geotechnical information related to active and past projects. Coordinates with other units within SCDOT to accomplish this objective in an accurate and professional manner. Performs other related duties as assigned. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I<br><br><br><p>A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and three (3) years of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.</p>The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. This position may require travel. This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.
