The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.</span></div><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt">The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found <a href="https://apps01.civilservice.louisiana.gov/onestopjobinfo/DisplayJobSpec.aspx?JobCode=161850" target="_blank"><u>here</u>.</a></p><p>Responsibilities may include planning and conducting classroom instruction, coordinating new employee orientation, maintaining training records, scheduling mandatory and annual training, monitoring certification requirements, developing instructional materials, and ensuring compliance with agency policies and applicable regulations. Training and Development Specialists also work closely with supervisors and department leaders to identify training needs and promote continuous professional development throughout the institution.</p><p>Whether serving at the Specialist 1, 2, or 3 level, these professionals are committed to fostering a well-trained workforce that is prepared to meet the unique challenges of a correctional environment. Their efforts help enhance employee performance, promote safety and accountability, and support the overall mission of the Louisiana State Penitentiary.</p><br><ul><li>Independently resolves routine problems, enforces academy standards, policies and procedures, screens new and/or revised departmental and institutional policies and procedures in relation to the training curriculum and apprizes the appropriate training instructors as necessary. </li><li>Delivers training to State employees, including American Heart Association CPR/First Aid, and training designed or approved by regulatory and accreditation agencies. Provides consulting and analysis support of office productivity tools, e.g., e-mail, word processing, excel spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. </li><li>Coordinates Computer Lab work-site training for employees.
