Key Duties & Responsibilities
Resident Support
Assist with resident errands, transportation, and room transitions.
Maintain orderly and clean resident rooms and common areas.
Ensure call bells are within reach and answer them promptly.
Assist residents with identifying food arrangements (do not feed them).
Provide reality orientation and communicate respectfully.
Greet and escort new residents; assist with room preparation.
Inventory, label, and store resident belongings properly.
Safety & Incident Reporting
Immediately report accidents/incidents, even of unknown origin, to the Charge Nurse.
Monitor and report changes in resident condition, room environment, and safety concerns.
Follow all infection control and hazard communication protocols (bloodborne pathogens, TB, etc.).
Report grievances, abuse, or missing/misused property to the appropriate supervisor.
Administrative & Support Tasks
Answer phones (especially during mealtimes).
Assist with secretarial tasks (filing, making copies, etc.).
Participate in orientation and training programs, including OSHA and CDC in-services.
Use computers and Microsoft Suite products efficiently.
Housekeeping & Equipment Maintenance
Perform minor cleaning and disinfection duties.
Maintain equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, urinals, etc.).
Keep floors, supplies, and tools in safe and designated places.
Replace trash liners and keep water pitchers filled and clean.
Supply & Inventory Management
Place, restock, and organize supplies and briefs.
Unpack deliveries and keep supply room stocked and orderly.
Report equipment malfunctions or supply shortages.
Qualifications
Education: Minimum of 8th-grade education.
Skills: Basic language, math, and reasoning abilities; Microsoft Suite proficiency.
Certificates: No specific licenses required unless trained for specific equipment use.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift/move 25 lbs occasionally; prolonged computer use; frequent walking and standing.
Work Environment
Generally low to moderate noise.
Exposure to healthcare environments, potentially involving bodily fluids.
Compliance with all safety, health, and confidentiality policies is essential.
