WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Operates polishing equipment to obtain desired polish and finish on parts and products. Selects wheels, dressings, and abrasives best suited for type of job. Applies and manipulates work to wheels exercising proper pressure and duration to polish, and buff using care to maintain contour, relationship, and dimensions.

  • Polish parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing using polish equipment.
  • Select abrasives and/or pastes, according to materials, sizes and shapes of work pieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes.
  • Verify machine setup by inspecting and verifying product characteristic are within tolerance per the part print specifications. This is done on the 1st piece and throughout the process run using the appropriate measuring device suitable for the required tolerance.
  • Verify quality of finished work pieces by inspecting and measuring their dimensions.
  • Mark defects for possible rework.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Assist in minor repairs and maintain equipment or parts when needed.
  • Change bench wheels when needed.
  • Operate power tools and other machinery while following strict safety guidelines.
