Alvarado Parkway Institute is a free-standing psychiatric hospital in La Mesa, California with four Intensive Outpatient/Partial Hospitalization Programs. API is seeking a qualified clinician licensed or registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences/Board of Psychology to deliver group and individual psychotherapy for our program at PATH.  API’s PATH program is a partnership with PATH Connections Housing.  The facility is located in downtown San Diego.  Paid parking is part of the employee compensation package for this location. The population served is homeless or at risk of homelessness mentally ill adults, including clients with dual diagnoses.

Therapist Needed as Lead Treatment Coordinator

The Lead Treatment Coordinator provides assistance and support to unlicensed staff at PATH. Responsible for day to day program oversight in the absence of the program director. Carries caseload as directed by Program Manager. Facilitates groups on average of 8-10 per week. Manages weekly group schedule, and daily group needs. Assists with billing reconciliation and program scheduling. Works with the team to facilitate ongoing program review and revision. Identification of new treatment tracks. Works with Program Manager to ensure financial goals are met for the program. Ensures documentation meets medical necessity criteria. Provides education and training when needed. Serves as a mentor in the provision of care to patients with substance use disorders, mood disorders, thought disorders, or who may be dually diagnosed. Duties include training new staff, assisting with milieu management and developing curriculum to enhance the lives of those served. 

This is a full- time position, the successful candidate will have sound clinical experience in the facilitation of group psychotherapy, have an ability to provide brief solution-focused individual psychotherapy and have excellent documentation skills.  Familiarity in developing treatment plans, self-harm intervention plans, and conducting psycho-social assessments preferred. 

  • Master’s degree in social work, MFT, psychology, or equivalent master’s degree in a recognized mental health field.
  • Licensed, or registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology is required. 
  • Licensed with Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.
  • Skilled in case management and time management
