The Corps Ministry Assistant reports to the Program Coordinator. This position is responsible for coordinating youth and family ministries, supporting the planning and execution of mission-driven programs that meet the spiritual needs of the community and congregation, and overseeing administrative, operational, and financial functions to ensure effective day-to-day ministry operations in support of The Salvation Army’s mission.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and participate in church leadership, youth, and family ministry activities
- Plan and teach bible lessons
- Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers for ministry programs and activities
- Promote youth and family programs, community initiatives, and partnerships
- Develop and coordinate fundraising efforts and outreach activities for youth and family programs
- Support community center programs, special events, worship services, and social service activities
- Manage registration, marketing, communications, statistics, and family records for ministry programs
- Connect families served through education and social services to ministry opportunities
- Provide program planning support, resources, and materials for programs
- Oversee daily office operations and maintain a welcoming environment
- Manage calendars, meetings, appointments, correspondence, phones, mail, and general inquiries
- Maintain personnel, volunteer, training, and program records, including timesheets, leave requests, and administrative documentation
- Manage office supplies and maintain records in the Corps Management System
- Process accounts payable, income transactions, donations, and financial records; assist with financial tracking and reporting
- Coordinate Kettle Campaigns, Angel Tree programs, Family Life Skills Program partnerships, and volunteer scheduling
- Drive for ministry programs and activities as needed
- Other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- CA driver's license (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent (preferred)
- Experience working with youth (2 years preferred)
- Experience in Christian education (preferred)
- Experience in ministry and church context
- Experience with Microsoft programs
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Great communication skills
- Ability to lead group activities and events
- Computer and social media literate
- Detail oriented
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)
