Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Under administrative direction and oversight of the Park Superintendent III, will administer, manage, and supervise the maintenance, grounds keeping, horticultural, and hike/bike trails for Louisville State Recreation Area. Duties will include grounds keeping, cultural and natural resource management, trail maintenance, maintaining boat/river access sites, oversight of assigned victor activities. Assist in the hiring, training and supervision of a seasonal workforce for assigned areas of responsibility, insuring equal opportunity and labor law, and reporting compliance for all employees and volunteers supervised. Assist with Venture Park activities and features to include operation and procedural functions, performing preventive maintenance on equipment and features, assisting patrons with safety, education, comments and concerns., special events, operation and maintenance of overnight campgrounds, partner development, and park promotion. As assigned assist with facility and equipment maintenance, housekeeping, asset management, compliance mandates, visitor/employee protection and safety, enforcement activities and public relations tasks. Essential duties will primarily be conducted in the evening hours.


 

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND one year related experience. Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESKnowledge of: the principals and techniques of supervision; federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to park administration; the operation and maintenance of park facilities and equipment; procedures and techniques of maintenance and repair of building, facilities and equipment; various computer programs that can support assigned duty requirements.

Skills in: Communicating with individuals and groups to collect and relay information, or make work assignments; listening and understanding others; prioritizing workloads; public speaking, conflict resolution.

Ability to:  Follow directions and assimilate information; plan, assign, supervise and evaluate the work of supervised staff; apply federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to park operations; interpret, apply and enforce park rules and regulations for visitors and staff; operate basic computer software and hardware.
