Job description

Temporary position for 6 months


As an underwriting technician, you help prevent, accept and reject risks based on established underwriting policies. You serve as technical expert and provide discipline-specific support for your unit’s activities, initiatives and processes. The ability to tailor your approach as needed is therefore essential. You research and analyze processes, information management and data processing. You draw on your sound decision-making skills to solve technically complex problems and recommend ways to change or adjust methods and procedures to make them as effective and efficient as possible. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Provide technical support for projects and complex operational issues related to property and casualty insurance underwriting. Develop underwriting solutions in accordance with current standards and each file’s unique circumstances
  • Serve as resource person for the application of underwriting rules. Help employees develop their technical skills. Carry out specialized technical studies, research and analysis related to property and casualty insurance underwriting. Submit solutions and action plans. Help practitioners follow your unit’s standards and processes and use its business solutions, tools and systems.

What you bring to the table

  • College diploma in a related field
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Representative’s certificate in damage insurance (AMF)
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
