We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Technical Writer to join our Electro-Optic Technology Division. This division is at the forefront of providing comprehensive life cycle and programmatic logistics support for cutting-edge EO/IR (Electro-Optical/Infrared) and laser systems utilized in national defense and security.

Our mission is to ensure that these critical technologies are supported throughout their entire lifecycle, from development to deployment and beyond, to meet the needs of our warfighters across the Navy, USMC, Air Force, SOCOM, and other defense entities. This position is vital in ensuring the smooth functioning and sustained operational effectiveness of military and national security EO/IR and laser systems.

Responsibilities

  • Creating accurate and comprehensive technical manuals and documents for military applications.
  • Develops, writes and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instructions books, catalogs and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment.
  • Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. 
  • Reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of work and revisions. 
  • Edits material prepared by other writers or plant personnel.  May specialize in writing material regarding work methods and procedures. 

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • 4-8 years experience in technical writing for military manuals using MIL STD 40051
  • 2+ years’ experience with Adobe Framemaker
  • 2+ years’ experience with Adobe Photoshop
