Who we are

About BBPOS

BBPOS is one of the world leaders in payment devices and the inventors of mPOS technology. BBPOS products are used by large retailers and leading online platforms across multiple industries.  BBPOS is engaged in the business of manufacturing and supplying mobile and smart point-of-sale hardware, and the underlying software and infrastructure to deploy, manage, and monitor those devices.  BBPOS is now part of Stripe’s Terminal business since the acquisition in March 2022.

About the team

Post acquisition, the BBPOS team is now an extension of the Stripe Terminal team.  Stripe Terminal helps Stripe users extend their online presence into the physical world. The Terminal team’s mission is to make it as easy for businesses to accept in-person payments as the Stripe API has done for online payments. With Terminal, businesses can unlock in-person payments use cases that are right for their business model—whether it’s creating a flagship retail experience, extending their website to a pop-up store, or enabling a mobile point-of-sale at their next event.

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities.

What you’ll do

As a Terminal Technical Program Manager, you will become an expert on all things related to in-person payments. You’ll work with teams within Terminal to enable top-notch integration experiences through our SDKs, get involved in driving new card reader hardware programs, and build enterprise scale fleet management programs. You’ll also work with our partner teams, both engineering and business, to enable our product and infrastructure to scale to match the rest of Stripe’s global footprint. More broadly, you will be responsible for the successful definition, cross-functional strategy, planning and execution of large-scale technical programs that help to solve complex problems.

Initially, a large part of your focus will be on defining, coordinating, and executing the Terminal release management process. Those responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate across several teams (engineering, product, go-to-market, docs, design etc.) and domains to finalize, bundle, and release software changes
  • Work intimately with app, SDK, and API services teams to release new API versions, SDKs for each supported language, and other software assets
  • Ensure the safe rollout of updated software assets
  • Coordinate with the Terminal team to update product documentation & integration guides, API references, migration guides, and changelogs as appropriate
  • Work closely with the product development team responsible for a given release to communicate changes effectively to existing and prospective users

Additional Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and define tools and processes for release management
  • Coordinate end to end testing and manage test cases
  • Define and update the versioning and release management strategy
  • Coordinate migration of users to the latest versions of the APIs, SDK, and other software assets and the deprecation of older versions

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with 3+ years as technical program management
  • You are not satisfied with just delivering a program on time—you are discerning about product/infrastructure architecture and obsessed with quality, reliability & correctness
  • You have a track record of providing program management during all phases of software development from kick-off to ship, demonstrating critical thinking and thought leadership
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills, building strong relationships with stakeholders and teams around the organization
  • You can drive and scale internal and external process improvements across multiple teams and functions
  • Experience operating autonomously and leading large-scale efforts across multiple teams and functions, with stakeholders in different disciplines across time zones
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale platforms, infrastructure  and organizations
  • Experience leading initiatives with a global footprint having built APIs, products, and complex systems/infrastructure at scale
