Job Overview:

Wasserman Digital is seeking a Technical Lead to drive development across the full project lifecycle for a range of e-commerce initiatives, with a primary focus on BigCommerce, Shopify, and/or Adobe Commerce (Magento). The Technical Lead will act as the technical owner on client engagements - responsible for designing scalable solutions, clearly communicating technical approaches to stakeholders, and partnering with Engineering, QA, and DevOps teams to ensure high-quality, high-performance delivery.

Please note this is a contract position up to 1 year.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the end-to-end technical architecture, implementation, and launch of e-commerce solutions for Wasserman Digital clients and channel partners.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients and internal teams, providing guidance on platform capabilities, best practices, and solution approaches.
  • Oversee ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and technical support for client e-commerce sites, ensuring stability and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers to coordinate all phases of the software delivery lifecycle, including solution architecture, technical design reviews, development planning, and quality assurance.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team of Software Engineers, while conducting code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across multiple systems, vendors, APIs, and integration points.
  • Define, implement, and enforce development standards across source control, build automation, testing practices, code quality, and release management (including theme and configuration deployments).

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in web application development and API integrations, including solution design for at least two e-commerce platforms—BigCommerce, Shopify Plus, and/or Adobe Commerce (Magento).
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven experience leading technical discussions, developing architecture documentation, and guiding engineering teams throughout the implementation process.
  • Hands-on experience designing headless commerce or composable architectures using REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
  • Experience integrating e-commerce platforms with ERP, CRM, OMS, or PIM systems, either directly or through iPaaS middleware.
  • Strong understanding of Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or similar platforms.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with backend application development using Laravel or Node.js.
  • Background in performance optimization, caching strategies, and CDN edge compute technologies (e.g., Cloudflare Workers, AWS Lambda@Edge).
