Position Description:
The Trade Monitoring/Surveillance team builds and executes complex surveillance models that focus on monitoring the trading practices of the Firm’s front office functions. As lead in this space partners with Compliance Product Owners, external vendors and other functionals team within the department to drive forward the business and technical strategy agenda through solid, resilient, sustainable design and execution.
Responsibilities:
The person will split their focus is likely to split their focus as below with opportunities to be hands-on contributor, as technologist enthusiastic.
- Strategic and RTB book of work delivery management + stakeholder and upstream partner management (~ 50% time allocation)
- Define and execute technology and data strategy (~ 25 time allocation)
- Lead a 9-members team (3 FTEs, 6 consultants) across NY (1), Montreal (2) and Mumbai (6). (~ 25% time allocation)
Skills Required:
- Software architecture and design methodologies and patterns
- Tech Strategy, Architecture Practices, such as architectural decision records
- Layered Architecture, Component based Architecture
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professional approach
- Stakeholder management
- Talent/People management
- Strong proficiency with Core Java, Spring, Python
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Database experience preferably with DB2, Postgres, Oracle or Sybase
- Complete SDLC process and Agile Methodology
Skill Desired:
- Previous experience in Trade Surveillance or working with data from the order lifecycle
- Previous experience on supporting technology products/solutions for Investment Management

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
