Job description
SAR Academy, a Modern Ortho6ox, co-educational day school in Riverdale, NY, is hiring dedicated and passionate Assistant Teachers for the 2026–2027 school year in our Infant Toddler Center (serving children ages 12 weeks to 24 months). We seek educators who foster curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning in young children, while cultivating a warm, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
We are looking for a full-time infant toddler teacher who is committed to providing high-quality care and being an active member of our school community. Ideal candidates are nurturing and reflective, supporting each child’s social, emotional, linguistic, cognitive, and physical development. Our classrooms are led by collaborative teaching teams that value strong communication, shared responsibility, and a sense of unity. Rooted in a constructivist, play-based approach, our program emphasizes exploration and discovery, encouraging educators to nurture each child’s natural sense of wonder, imagination, and self-esteem through responsive and intentional practice.
Responsibilities
- Support the developmental and educational growth of infants and toddlers through age-appropriate, responsive care adhering to health and safety standards
- Design and implement meaningful, play-based experiences that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development
- Respond attentively and efficiently to each child’s individual needs
- Observe and document each child's progress, tailoring activities to meet individual developmental needs
- Foster a nurturing, calm, and patient environment grounded in warmth and respect
- Promote positive behavior and support healthy social interactions among children
- Build secure, trusting relationships with each child through consistency and connection.
- Collaborate with the ELC Director and ITC Coordinator to ensure alignment with program goals and adherence to center guidelines
- Works collaboratively with teaching team to plan and facilitate daily activities and special programs
- Maintain daily logs and communication with families using the center’s designated app
Qualifications
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with young children and foster an atmosphere of mutual respect
- Effective problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues
- Solid understanding of early childhood development, including social, emotional, and cognitive growth
- Creative, flexible, and open-minded approach to teaching and caregiving
- Knowledge of current best practices in early childhood education
- Familiarity with Jewish culture and traditions
- Minimum age of 21
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, CDA, or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; candidates with relevant experience who are willing to pursue certification or degree completion will also be considered.
