Job Description:

We are seeking a hands-on Tax Staff Accountant to support the company’s tax compliance and planning activities. This role reports to the VP Finance & Controller and works closely with the accounting and finance teams and external tax advisors to help ensure timely, accurate filings and strong tax records.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review workpapers supporting federal, state, and local income tax filings. Assist with sales and use tax, property tax, payroll tax, and other applicable compliance requirements.
  • Reconcile tax accounts and support the quarterly and annual tax provision process.
  • Gather, organize, and analyze financial information requested by external tax advisors and auditors.
  • Research tax questions and summarize findings for management.
  • Monitor filing deadlines, maintain tax calendars, and support timely payments and submissions.
  • Help identify process improvements, documentation standards, and potential tax savings opportunities.
  • Maintain organized, confidential tax files and supporting documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Approximately three years of relevant tax, public accounting, or corporate accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax concepts.
  • Experience with Excel and accounting software; familiarity with tax preparation software is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Careful attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • CPA eligibility, progress toward a CPA, or CPA designation is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods.
  • Must be able to use close vision.
  • Must have manual dexterity for typing.
