Job description

The Tax & Accounting Senior Officer oversees all accounting and tax-related activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. The role focuses on managing and coordinating the work of any external service provider responsible for day-to-day accounting and tax processing, while acting as the internal subject matter expert on IFRS and Tax matters and liaison between the business and the outsourced partner.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitors the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of financial data and reports submitted by the service provider
  • Ensures SLAs and KPIs are consistently met, and coordinates ongoing collaboration and issue resolution with the service provider
  • Oversees monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and trial balances
  • Collaborates with internal departments to ensure accurate transaction processing and reliable financial reporting
  • Supervises the preparation and submission of tax returns (VAT, CIT, WHT) and ensures compliance with local and international tax regulations
  • Tracks developments in tax regulations and accounting standards (IFRS) and provides guidance on complex or new transactions
  • Coordinates tax audits and liaises with tax authorities in collaboration with the service provider and legal counsel
  • Supports internal and external audits and ensures compliance with internal financial policies and control frameworks
  • Prepares monthly financial reports (P&L, balance sheet) and assists in budgeting and forecasting processes

Requirements

Education, Experience and Technical Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university or college
  • Master’s degree and ACCA / ACA qualification considered an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Accounting/Finance
  • Experience in Banking, Loan Servicing, or Audit/Accounting Firms considered an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Greek
  • Project management experience related to outsourcing management
  • Strong computer literacy with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems
  • Good knowledge of accounting software
