The System Manager of Labor Productivity coordinates system labor productivity reporting, analysis, benchmarking, and standardization and leads the system position control process. Partners with hospital executives and operational leaders, including nursing, ancillary, clinical, and support department leaders, to monitor productivity performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and support effective labor utilization. Prepares productivity reporting and presentations for hospital and corporate leadership and supports system initiatives related to labor productivity, workforce utilization, position control, and operational performance.
GENERAL DUTIES
Labor Productivity Reporting & Analysis
Coordinates and maintains system labor productivity reporting, ensuring accurate, consistent, and timely information for hospital and corporate leadership.
Monitors key productivity metrics, trends, and variances and provides analysis to support operational and financial decision-making.
Oversees system labor reporting and delivers labor productivity KPIs to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
Prepares productivity reports, dashboards, scorecards, and presentations for hospital and corporate leadership.
Operational Partnership & Productivity Improvement
Partners with nursing, ancillary, clinical, and support department leaders to review productivity performance, staffing utilization, and operational trends.
Supports hospital management teams in implementing productivity initiatives and identifying opportunities to improve labor utilization and efficiency.
Participates in departmental interviews and operational assessments to understand labor practices and identify opportunities for improvement.
Provides training and support to labor coaches, leaders, employees, and subject matter experts to promote effective labor management practices.
Benchmarking & System Standardization
Supports the use of internal and external benchmarks to evaluate labor productivity and identify opportunities for improvement.
Assists with standardizing productivity definitions, methodologies, statistics, reporting practices, and performance measures across comparable departments and facilities.
Assists with productivity target setting and benchmarking to promote systemwide consistency and performance.
Manages and monitors system labor productivity and benchmarking tools to identify opportunities for productivity improvement and recommend actionable strategies.
Executive Reporting & System Support
Supports Monthly Operating Reviews and other leadership meetings by providing timely, accurate, and actionable productivity information.
Communicates productivity trends, benchmarks, variances, and opportunities to operational and executive leadership.
Collaborates with Finance, Human Resources, Nursing, Operations, and other departments on labor productivity and workforce utilization initiatives.
Leads the system position control process, coordinating the review and analysis of position requests and providing labor productivity, staffing, and financial data to support informed position decisions.
Coordinates system position control activities and collaborates with hospital and corporate leaders to ensure position requests align with established productivity standards, staffing needs, operational requirements, and financial objectives.
Labor Productivity Systems & Special Projects
Oversees and manages the Strata Labor Productivity tool and other productivity-related reporting and benchmarking systems.
Coordinates labor productivity projects and initiatives, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and follow-up.
Performs focused analyses and special projects related to labor productivity, staffing efficiency, position control, and operational performance as requested.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
5 years of healthcare finance, financial planning and analysis, labor productivity, workforce management, or related experience. Experience managing or supporting labor productivity within a corporate or health system environment preferred.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with financial, budgeting, productivity, benchmarking, and/or ERP systems.
Ability to analyze complex data and communicate findings effectively to operational and executive leadership.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
Ability to build effective working relationships with hospital executives, operational leaders, and cross-functional teams.
Must be able to adapt in a high-stress environment with frequent interruptions.
