System Field Engineer, Falcom
GN Hearing Care Corporation
Apply to this jobDo you want to solve technical challenges and turn ideas into prototype solutions? Are you ready to use your engineering skills to design and develop hardware and software interfaces for advanced communication systems?
Then join FalCom in an R&D role focused on early-stage development, system integration and prototype solutions. We are looking for a System Field Engineer to be the direct link from R&D to Sales and end users during early development, helping translate real technical challenges and operational needs into future systems, products and prototypes.
The team you will be part of:
FalCom is founded on GN’s legacy as a top provider of intelligent audio solutions. We create advanced hearing protection solutions that allow special operations, military, law enforcement and security personnel to communicate in the most extreme environments – all while providing high-quality hearing protection. You will be part of a small team of international software, hardware and mechanical engineers. We develop sophisticated software and hardware for low-power communication solutions that enable our customers to hear more, do more and perform in demanding environments.
Your contribution is appreciated
As our new Field Application Engineer, you will work directly with the design and development of integration solutions for demanding communication environments. You will work closely with both customers and colleagues in R&D and Sales. The role also offers direct interaction with end users to build a deep understanding of technical challenges and operational needs, and to bring those insights back into development. This includes working with radios, intercom systems, end-user devices and data interfaces, mainly from the Ballerup office.
Your responsibilities will include:
Develop and debug prototype solutions and interface hardware
Investigate new interfaces and turn requirements into practical integration solutions
Create interface and integration documentation
Support integration of networked and IP-based communication systems
Work with USB communication and relevant standards
Adjust audio profile software for optimum results
Use basic electronics lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and USB analyzers/tracers for troubleshooting and validation
Understand power flow and power-related behavior in integrated systems
Document your work and development
Travel approximately 10 days per year
A small team with broad responsibility
We are a small cross-functional team, and solving tasks is a shared effort. We work on our own and in teams as needed, and together we navigate a project-oriented development culture, collaborating with colleagues across GN.
“It’s a very interesting position. You’ll have the freedom to manage your own work, and you get to travel, experience different cultures and work with all aspects of FalCom. It really is a great opportunity,” explains hiring manager Jens Kirkelund.
Experienced engineer with solid system understanding
You are meticulous and systematic in your approach to tasks. You are known as a collaborative colleague who focuses on delivering high-quality and innovative solutions. In the face of challenges, you maintain a solution-oriented approach and are willing to challenge those around you when you see room for improvement. You are comfortable with shifting priorities and willing and able to travel on short notice.
To perform well in the role, we imagine that you have:
A solid technical foundation in hardware, software and system integration
Some years of experience bringing different systems together into working solutions
Experience creating schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation
Some knowledge of networking and IP-based communication
Familiarity with tactical radios or similar communication systems
Some knowledge of USB communication and relevant standards
A practical engineering approach, including prototype work, soldering and lab-based debugging
Understanding of EMC design principles
Proficient written and spoken English
We encourage you to apply
Even if you don’t match all the above-mentioned skills, we welcome your application if you think you have transferable skills. We highly value a mindset and motivation that align with our core values, to not only ensure growth for you, but for your team and the wider GN organization as well.
We are focused on an inclusive recruitment process
All applicants will receive equal consideration for employment. As such, we encourage you to submit your CV without a photo to ensure an equal and fair application process.
