Performs the primary function of a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room. Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Details:

Overview

  • Work closely with surgeons and the OR team, anticipating needs to keep each procedure running smoothly.

  • Help maintain a safe environment by upholding sterile technique and ensuring team compliance.

  • Prepare and troubleshoot instruments and equipment so the team can stay focused on patient care.

  • Support daily workflow with room turnover, case setup, and planning for the next day’s schedule.

  • Build strong communication and collaboration with physicians, circulators, and other OR partners.

  • Manage instruments and supplies to keep each case organized and efficient.

  • Use your technical expertise across a range of surgical specialties.

  • Participate in evaluating new equipment and tools to improve patient care.

  • Contribute to a surgical environment where safety, efficiency, and quality are top priorities.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High-School Diploma or GED are required. This is a certified technologist (CST) position. The Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program per the National Board of Surgical Technology is required. Maintain certification without gaps. You may be asked to provide proof of education.

  • Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required.

  • Experience: New graduate up to experienced surgical technologist experience. Non-certified applicants may be considered for this position with acceptable surgical technology experience.

  • Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to perform job-related functions safely and successfully, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law
