Job Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the Manager and Director in accomplishing department goals in the effective and efficient operation of the Registration Department. The Registration Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Registration associates including monitoring productivity and customer service, supporting all staff on the shift within the department and handling personnel issues as they arise, including disciplinary action as needed.

Job Description:

  • Implements and controls Registration activities to meet the goals of the department. 
  • Supervises staff and daily operations of the Registration Department.
  • Registers patients when necessary to meet registration goals for patient wait times. 
  • Reconciles cash payments in safe and covers for cashier’s office when necessary. 
  • Promotes cooperation and teamwork within the department as well as with other departments. 
  • Participates in the interview process as assigned by the manager.
  • Oversees and evaluates the associate’s registration performance to provide feedback for positive reinforcement or to initiate change.  Completes annual performance evaluations.  Provides coaching and initiates and delivers discipline according to policy.
  • Responsible for covering, and/or calling in employees when needed (ie) sick, vacation, holiday, etc. to meet patient registration needs in a cost-efficient manner.  Participates in the on-call rotation.  Updates schedules in the scheduling system and Kronos as needed.                      
  • Responsible for on-the-job training of new Registration Department employees.  Also responsible for information flow to update and reinforce procedures and changes to ensure quality registrations. 
  • Prepare and approves timecards in Kronos.
  • Ensures equipment is in working order and orders supplies as needed.  Provides technical support as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

Associate degree in a related field, including clinical or business

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Proven track record of excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to navigate through computer systems (Microsoft Office, registration systems, EPIC)
  • Good typing skills / data entry skills
  • Good interpersonal skills (work with the public)
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Maintain patient confidentiality

Kind and Length of Experience: 

3 years’ experience in a healthcare or management position including experience with computerized systems and use of medical terminology.
