Job description

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:00 AM – 1:00 PM

The Studio Technician is an essential member of our production team, helping bring live newscasts and special productions to air each day. This hands-on role supports all aspects of studio operations, from operating production equipment and preparing the set to assisting guests and talent. Team members are expected to become proficient in multiple areas of production, including studio camera operation, floor directing, audio operation, lighting sets, guest coordination, and special segment/event setup. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys being part of a collaborative team that delivers high-quality television every day.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate studio production equipment during live newscasts and other productions, including cameras, audio systems, lighting, microphones, and related broadcast technology.
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, on-air talent, and fellow crew members to ensure seamless execution of live and recorded productions.
  • Monitor changing production needs and respond quickly and effectively in a fast-paced, live television environment.
  • Set up and break down studio elements for daily broadcasts and special segments, including microphones, band equipment, special lighting, furniture, props, and other production materials.
  • Welcome and assist guests appearing on-air by providing basic instructions, fitting microphones, and helping create a positive studio experience.
  • Participate in ongoing cross-training and demonstrate the ability to work in multiple production roles, including camera operation, audio support, studio setup, guest assistance, and special event production.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and production-ready studio and workspace.
