Structural FEA Engineer

Responsibilities        

• Use finite element analysis and other analytical tools to develop products that meet internal and/or external customer requirements
• Support and enhance processes and procedures significant to product development
• Translate product requirements into product design features
• Work in a team environment towards bringing new product technologies to market
• Strong communication skills [written/oral] in presenting data and information to others
• Contribute to ideas for new computational tools in the prediction of tire performance
• Mentor / coach associates in the development of technical capabilities

Education

• Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred – Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

Requirements

• 4+ years of progressive experience required using finite element methodologies.
• Good knowledge of structural mechanics/dynamics and/or fluid dynamics
• Good knowledge of Finite Element Analysis fundamentals, especially nonlinear FEA
• Working knowledge of FEA tools such as Abaqus, Ansys etc.
• Working knowledge of 3D CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA V5, etc...) software and their applications is preferred
• Programming or scripting skills such as Python etc. are considered a plus.
• Basic applied statistics, Design of Experiments and multi-regression modeling, cause-and-effect analysis, risk analysis, lean principles
• Ability to accomplish assignments in a logical fashion, using existing technology and standardized methodologies
• Demonstrates strong analytical skills and innovative problem-solving, emphasizing cooperative teamwork
• Ability to form strong working relationships with Goodyear associates (Global & cross-functional) and customers
• Effectively communicates and sells ideas related to project requirements and goals
• Ability to adapt to new challenges
• Develop clear and concise technical reports summarizing highlights and making recommendations for logical next steps
