At Play DSA, we work on a variety of challenging data science projects to drive product and go-to-market decisions for Play. This team is truly embedded in the product development lifecycle: we are thought partners from project ideation to experimentation, and our deep dive analyses consistently help set strategy for the wider area we work on. This role includes components of strategy, Data Science and Analytics (DSA), and influencing via effective communication. Our team partners with executive leadership to run important functions that cross-cut our existing organizations and deliver high impact projects. We help Engineers, Product Managers, UX, and other cross-functional stakeholders to build amazing products that delight our users, and then get those products into their hands.

Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $192000 - $278000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Work across cross-platform games, developer success, and games ecosystem to further our understanding of the Games business and the loyalty program at Play.
  • Partner with Games Data Science and Product Strategy team members, Play Games, Product Management, Engineering, Product Marketing Manager, UX and other teams to understand user behavior, design/analyze experiments and drive product insights to improve user experiences.
  • Deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership, shaping Play's investment in Games.
  • Be passionate for gaming and knowledge of gaming industry.
  • Perform statistical analyses in R/Python, data extraction using SQL, and build pipelines and dashboards using business intelligence platform tools.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 10 years of work experience with analysis applications (extracting insights, performing statistical analysis, or solving business problems), and coding (Python, R, SQL), or 2 years of experience with a Master's degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 1 year of experience working in gaming.
