Job description

Would you like to be part of a team that delivers innovative well intervention solutions across the entire asset lifecycle?

Do you enjoy leading complex intervention projects that improve production, integrity, and operational performance?

Join our successful team!

Baker Hughes is the leading energy technology company, who delivers across the energy value chain through our market-leading business segments. Built on a century of experience and conducting business in over 120 countries. Our innovative technologies and services are taking energy forward! Making it safer, cleaner and more efficient for people and the planet.

Partner with the best

A  Senior Well Intervention Engineer is responsible for developing well intervention concepts that are technically grounded, executable, and linked to measurable field value. The Senior Well Intervention Engineer should have direct experience on projects that progressed from opportunity framing and design through pre-FEED/FEED, execution, post-job evaluation, and production or integrity performance monitoring. The role requires working knowledge of the individual products and service components that make up the integrated intervention value chain, including well access, pressure control, conveyance, downhole tools, stimulation, remediation, diagnostics, integrity repair, abandonment support, logistics, and operational risk management.

As a Senior Well Intervention Engineer , you will be responsible for:

  • Intervention strategy: Define fit-for-purpose intervention strategies for mature wells, including rigless interventions, workovers, recompletions, stimulation, cleanout, water shutoff, integrity remediation, and abandonment preparation.
  • Downhole application expertise: Select and challenge downhole technologies, tools, deployment methods, and operational envelopes required for production restoration, injectivity improvement, access remediation, or safe abandonment.
  • Design discipline integration: Identify the reservoir, production, well integrity, completion, facilities, HSE, logistics and commercial inputs needed during design. Ask the right questions early to avoid unrealistic intervention scopes.
  • Execution and monitoring experience: Apply lessons from interventions that were executed in the field, including pre-job planning, operational constraints, post-job diagnostics, production response, injectivity response, integrity confirmation, and lessons learned.
  • Execution framing: Define intervention sequence, resource requirements, rig or rigless assumptions, pressure control needs, logistics, HSE exposure, cost drivers, and schedule implications.
  • Risk and value input: Quantify production restoration potential, injectivity gains, integrity risk reduction, abandonment readiness, and associated execution risks for proposal and investment support.
  • Technical assurance: Review well intervention scopes, mentor junior engineers, and ensure assumptions are realistic, executable, and aligned with integrated field management objectives.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Have 15+ years of experience in well interventions, completions, workovers, well integrity, and mature field production restoration (rig-based and rigless).
  • Have deep understanding of downhole tools, intervention methods, well access constraints, pressure control, and abandonment-related practices.
  • Demonstrate proven ability to frame intervention-led value propositions and defend execution assumptions with clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Be able to work in cross-functional teams. Candidate will interface with multiple roles within the Baker Hughes’ and customers’ organizations.
  • Be open to collaborating in multi-cultural environments.
  • Demonstrate strong Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking skills: utilizing logic, creativity, and reasoning to assess complex challenges and develop effective solutions
