Job Description:
The Speech Pathology Department provides evaluation and therapeutic services for patients with speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders. The department works collaboratively with interdisciplinary care teams to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered interventions that support communication, safety, and overall quality of life across the continuum of care.

PRN, Days
The Speech-Language Pathologist II (SLP) is responsible for identifying, assessing, and treating patients
with cognitive communication and/or swallowing disorders. The SLP also provides counseling/ education to
patients, caregivers, and staff regarding cognitive-communication and/ or swallowing disorders.
Job Description:
Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for adults who exhibit cognitive-communication disorders and for neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adults who exhibit feeding/ swallowing disorders. These assessments incorporate both formal and informal test procedures. Diagnostic conclusions and recommendations are based upon test results, clinical observations, background/ history, and information from other specialist, patients, and caregivers.
Develop appropriate treatment plans and bases treatment methods and procedures on a definitive rationale, as an ongoing process, adapting to meet the patient’s needs.
Counsel patients and caregivers regarding the cognitive-communicative/ swallow disorder. Discuss progress and recommends follow-up services and/ or provides instruction for carry-over and/ or home programs, with patient’s and caregivers upon discharge.
Communicate patient care needs, progress, and plans with the treatment team members to support the interdisciplinary team model for optimal treatment outcomes.
Support collaborative and multidisciplinary research; applies research findings to practice and encourages, participates in, and promotes research activities that establish the outcomes of patient-management.
Requirements:
Masters Degree-Speech Language Pathology
Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) Must be obtained within 9 months for fulltime employees and 18 months for part-time employees.
Current and valid license to practice Speech-Language Pathology in the state of Kentucky
Maintain Certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
Must obtain BLS within 30 days
