General Summary:
Our client is looking for a dedicated K-2 Self-Contained Special Education Teacher to own the full instructional day for a single cohort of primary students. Under general supervision, this educator delivers all core academic subjects while managing individualized student goals. Because K-2 is the high-stakes window where foundational literacy and numeracy are established, this teacher plays a pivotal role in preventing future learning gaps and building deep, transformative relationships with students.

Essential Functions
- Comprehensive Instruction: Delivers core elementary subjects (reading, math, science, social studies) adapted to the specific learning and developmental needs of the cohort.
- Strong Classroom Management: Maintains a highly structured, supportive environment to ensure student safety, routine, and focus throughout the entire school day.
- IEP & Record Maintenance: Establishes clear learning objectives aligned with state standards and individual student requirements. Maintains accurate, complete, and legally compliant student records.
- Progress Monitoring: Continuously assesses student accomplishments, generates detailed progress reports, and seeks appropriate diagnostic assistance as needed.
- Collaborative Planning: Cooperates with school and district staff to align instructional goals, and provides thorough plans for substitute teachers.
- Family Partnerships: Keeps parents actively involved through regular communication regarding academic and behavioral adjustments.
- Professional Accountability: Is punctual, enforces school rules fairly, protects school property, and participates in assigned district staff development programs.
Job Specifications
- Education & Experience: Active South Carolina teaching certification in Special Education (or eligible for immediate certification/reciprocity).
- Knowledge: Broad knowledge of core subject instruction, specialized remedial methods, classroom management for self-contained spaces, and behavioral intervention strategies.
- Skills/Effort: Ability to provide highly structured instruction through demonstration and supervised practice. Strong skills in identifying student adjustment or academic challenges and recommending corrective action.
- Working Conditions: Conducts duties in a classroom environment requiring constant physical and mental attention. Must be able to lift/move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Occasional local travel required; no overnight travel.
