Job Description

The Software Engineer Senior Consultant II implements applications following 12-factor principles to build out the product and iterative enhancements. They own the full stack of software products, developing and implementing frontends (web or mobile), and backend services. They leverage test driven development and continuous integration to ensure agility and quality of products. They actively participate in the decision-making process of the team ensuring that the simplest appropriate technology and design is chosen to meet user needs.

We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Developer to manage, maintain, enhance, and support critical mainframe applications. The role includes development, testing, production support, CI/CD deployments, incident management, automation, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring strong mainframe technical expertise, ownership across the software development lifecycle, and a willingness to learn and adopt AI-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities


1. Application Development & Support

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications.
  • Provide production support, troubleshoot incidents, resolve defects, and ensure application reliability and performance.
  • Participate in testing, validation, deployments, and post-deployment support.

2. Project Delivery & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with business partners, product managers, architects, and engineering teams to deliver quality solutions.
  • Participate in product discussions, assess application impacts, write technical stories, estimate work, and support prioritization.
  • Communicate changes, risks, impacts, and dependencies clearly and proactively.
  • Work independently and within cross-functional teams with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. 

3. Operational Excellence

  • Drive automation and process improvements to reduce manual effort, risk, and cost.
  • Support maintenance activities, upgrades, infrastructure changes, disaster recovery testing, and critical production events.
  • Contribute to incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.

4. Software Engineering Practices

  • Apply engineering best practices including code reviews, unit testing, secure coding, source code management, CI/CD, and maintainable design.
  • Take ownership of solutions from design and development through deployment and production support.
  • Continuously refactor and improve codebases for maintainability, performance, and reliability.

5. Business, AI & Innovation Focus

  • Understand business processes and ensure technology solutions align with business outcomes.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and a continuous learning mindset.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI, Generative AI, ML, intelligent automation, or AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering, testing, operations, and productivity.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Flexible to support project, deployment, maintenance, production, and disaster recovery activities outside normal working hours when required.
  • Demonstrates accountability, ownership, and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions and customer outcomes.

Education

  • 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred)

  • Monday - Friday | 1:00 PM IST - 9:30 PM IST (Allstate India Shift)

Preferred Location

  • Bengaluru India (Allstate India) but but ANA/ANI also OK

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This job does not have supervisory duties
