Project Janus is a new development from the Gemini App team. It leverages the world-leading Gemini model to deliver intelligent automation across web browsers, desktop environments, and beyond.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop from scratch the next generation of AI technologies that empower Google users.
  • Work closely with research teams to apply Large Language Model (LLM) techniques.
  • Design, build, and deliver compelling new features for Gemini's applications, prioritizing both performance and seamless user experiences.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., design, product, modeling specialists) to translate user needs into intuitive, valuable app features within the Gemini ecosystem.
  • Participate in code reviews, enforce development best practices, and share your knowledge to raise the team's overall technical expertise.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 5 years of experience with backend technologies or system software development.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience building or using AI Agents and LLM-based frameworks to automate software engineering tasks.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
