Software Engineer

Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, and modifies software to enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs. Code may be used in commercial, end-user applications and internal tools that improve efficiencies that supporting our diverse industry segments and clients. Using current programming language and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications. As you advance in your career the expectation is individuals become thought leaders and communicate those ideas.

JOB ROLE SUMMARY

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Fully functional and self-directed
• Provides formal mentorship
• High complexity assignments- owner
• Moderate complexity assignments - owner (1 or >)
• Low complexity assignments - provide oversight/review
• Regularly lead self and others and/or established as Product SME and/or established as specialist
• Sees the whole picture and adjusts work accordingly
• Works independently on complex tasks
• Mentors others with less experience
• Performs peer code reviews conformity, security, and efficiency
• Designs low complexity tasks/components
• Clearly demonstrates understanding of how to branch code and divide up tasks
• Can pick up other developer code to modify/enhance
• Perfecting quality by unit testing and completing required documentation

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have direct reports but may mentor less experienced associates in the role

QUALIFICATIONS

Required 

• College degree and 2+ years of experience or equivalent work experience

Preferred

• No certification required
• 4-year college degree in relevant field of study
• Language Syntax of at least 2 relevant software development languages 
• Java
• Docker/Kubernetes
• Kafka (nice to have)
• Node.js (nice to have)
• JavaScript (nice to have)
• TypeScript (nice to have)
• Angular/React (nice to have)
• AWS experience (nice to have)
• Operating System Exposure in previous jobs or school is nice to have
• Linux/Unix Commands
• General understanding of both Relational and NoSQL Database Principles; MySQL/ MongoDB or other
• Learn industry standards, and best practices in solutions
• Excellent communication skills, can communicate ideas clearly and effectively to other members of the development team
