Role

As a Principal Engineer (IC), you will lead the design and architecture for the consolidation of microservices and the development of a Supergraph at NAB. You’ll drive technical vision, mentor teams, and ensure the delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud-native systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead architecture and design for Enterprise Integration Platforms like Supergraph platform, Enterprise Events, Servicemesh.

• Lead with data to guide engineering leaders in adopting modern practices across the bank.

• Define best practices for GraphQL Federation, Java Spring Boot microservices, and event-driven systems.

• Collaborate with teams across Australia, Vietnam, and India, with opportunities for cross-border engagement. Depending on project needs, you may also experience short-term travel and gain exposure to international work environments.

• Mentor teams in cloud-native development (AWS/Azure/GCP), DevOps practices, and secure coding.

• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies including but not limited to AI/ML where relevant.

• Set performance, scalability, and security standards for the platform.

Key Qualifications:

•  14-18 years of backend development and system design experience.

• Expertise in GraphQL Federation and Apollo Federation.

• Candidates with development architecture and system design experience would be a strong fit.

• Financial systems/domain background are highly preferred

•  Working knowledge of TypeScript and Node.js.

•  Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, specifically AWS (ECS, EKS, S3, Lambda, etc.).

• Experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD, service mesh, and observability practices.

• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

•  Exposure to AI/ML platforms and architecture is a plus.
