We are seeking a strategic minded and dynamic leader for our Senior Vice President of R&D – Hardware position. You will be responsible for leading high-performing hardware engineering teams—including Firmware, Electrical, Mechanical, and other R&D support—focused on CGM and sensor technologies. In this role, you will report to the Chief Technology Officer and be entrusted to develop and execute both short- and long-term engineering strategies aligned with Dexcom’s mission, ensuring timely, budget-conscious, and high-quality product delivery. As a leader of the function, you will be working collaboratively across internal and external stakeholders to enhance product development outcomes.

Where you come in:

  • Lead and maintain a top-tier hardware engineering function (Firmware, Hardware, Electrical, Mechanical), Hardware Design Validation and NPI test process to be transferred to manufacturing Hardware and R&D development support teams specializing in developing CGM/sensor technology.
  • Develop both short- and long-term hardware engineering objectives that align with Dexcom’s mission and objectives and ensuring delivery of technology, data and product development cycles are on-time, on budget and with high quality results.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders both within and externally to support overall quality of product development and delivery.
  • Drive a culture of trust and empowerment, fostering technical excellence across Hardware disciplines, transparent communication and personal accountability within the function.
  • Represents hardware engineering leadership in R&D senior leadership meetings, senior cross-functional leadership meetings and executive meetings, offering valuable technical insights, necessary support/buy-in and progress/KPI updates.
  • Develop and manage the Hardware Function’s budget, resource allocation and capital expenditures.

What makes you successful:

  • Strong technical background (FDA Medical Device knowledge a plus) and ability to quickly come up to speed on various technologies and organize teams in a quickly growing and agile/flexible environment.
  • Strong background in design transferring to manufacturing and test process engineering.
  • Strong ability to build effective working relationships with others, exhibiting strong communication skills, collaborative style and emotional intelligence.
  • Enjoys operating in knowing the big picture while also diving into the technical details.
  • Experience in leadership of technical staff with a track record of recruiting exceptional talent and building high performing teams.
  • Experience with high volume (>10 million shipped per year) products.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree , with
  • 20+ years of industry experience
  • 15+ years of successful management experience in relevant industry
