Job description

About the role

We are looking for a (Senior) User Interfaces & Workflow Automation Engineer to build modern internal tools that make complex R&D data and workflows usable. You will design intuitive applications and interfaces that improve adoption, reduce manual effort, and ensure high-quality data handling in daily engineering work.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and develop internal tools for R&D users
  • Build user-friendly interfaces (web and desktop) for searching, entering, reviewing, visualizing, and managing complex technical data
  • Develop workflow-oriented applications that support project coordination, progress tracking, action management, approvals, and reporting
  • Improve usability and process clarity in areas where existing workflows are fragmented, manual, or error-prone
  • Implement frontend validation and workflow guidance that supports better data quality at the point of use
  • Contribute to architecture, coding standards, testing, and long-term maintainability of internal applications
  • Collaborate directly with users to understand needs, refine requirements, and deliver practical, incremental improvements
  • Evaluate and decide where AI/ML adds value in user workflows vs. deterministic approaches, and implement accordingly

What you bring

  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or a related field
  • Relevant professional experience in building production-grade systems (3-5 years for Middle, 5-8 years for Senior)
  • Strong experience in web application development and user-facing software engineering
  • Experience building internal business or engineering applications, dashboards, portals, or workflow tools
  • Solid understanding of frontend architecture, UI quality, API integration, and maintainable software design
  • Experience with modern web technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks and REST-based integration)
  • Good understanding of validation, error handling, and user workflow design
  • Ability to convert complex technical requirements into simple and intuitive user experiences
  • Strong communication skills in English and German, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, researchers, and project stakeholders

Nice to have

  • Experience in engineering, scientific, industrial, or manufacturing software
  • Experience with authentication/authorization, role-based workflows, or traceability views
  • Familiarity with data-centric applications, dashboards, or workflow/process automation
  • Experience implementing AI/ML-supported features in real-world applications

What matters most

You combine strong UI engineering with a quality mindset. You build software that is clear, reliable, and trusted. You understand that good interfaces drive good data and efficient workflows.

What Nexperia offers

  • Real-world, complex use cases with strong business relevance
  • Opportunity to build data-driven and workflow-centric applications at scale
  • Collaborative, international environment with strong engineering focus
