About the role

As a Senior Tax Reviewer at Uplinq, you are the last technical checkpoint before a return reaches final sign-off. You perform the detailed, line-level review of complex federal and state returns — catching material issues, validating data, and providing direct feedback to junior preparers to improve first-pass quality. This role is built for a tax professional who has strong review instincts, knows the difference between a real problem and a rounding error, and can move quickly without cutting corners.

What you'll do

  • Perform detailed technical reviews of federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, and nonprofits prior to manager-level sign-off.
  • Apply judgment to distinguish high-impact issues from negligible discrepancies, keeping the review process thorough and efficient.
  • Verify that QuickBooks Online data ties to Schedule L for clients who maintain internal books.
  • Respond to client questions about return details and technical tax matters.
  • Identify recurring error patterns and provide direct feedback and training to tax staff to raise the standard of first-pass accuracy.
  • Stay current on federal and state tax law changes.

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification (Required).
  • 8+ years of experience in tax preparation, with at least 2 years in a dedicated review capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to review across entity types: individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, and nonprofits.
  • Expert proficiency with CCH Axcess and QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial statements, including Schedule L reconciliation.
  • Clear, professional communication skills — you'll interact directly with clients on technical matters.

Why Join Us

  • Competitive pay + health, dental, vision, 401(k), and life insurance
  • Remote-first and flexible work culture
  • Clear path for career growth in a fast-growing firm
  • Modern tech stack and automation-first mindset
  • Supportive, collaborative team with strong systems and documentation
