Job Summary:

The purpose of this role is to support the matching engine technology team by contributing hands-on engineering capability and practical low latency expertise across development, testing, performance tuning and operational readiness.

The role will help enhance matching engine capabilities to support new business requirements and products, strengthen automated testing for low latency systems, and contribute to the development of tools and frameworks used to measure, monitor and improve system performance.

Job Duties:

Responsibilities:

You will work as part of the matching engine technology team, contributing to the design, development, testing and optimisation of low latency trading systems. The role requires strong hands-on engineering capability, good understanding of high-throughput systems, and the ability to apply performance-focused development practices in a production-minded environment.

  • Develop, enhance and support low latency trading and matching engine components.
  • Contribute to performance tuning, latency analysis and optimisation across application, middleware and infrastructure layers.
  • Build and maintain automated testing frameworks and tools for low latency and high-throughput systems.
  • Support implementation of latency monitoring, benchmarking and performance measurement capabilities.
  • Work closely with senior engineers, architects and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into reliable technical solutions.
  • Participate in production support, incident investigation and continuous improvement activities where required.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline.
  • Typically 6–10 years’ experience in software development, preferably within low latency, trading, exchange, financial markets or high-throughput technology environments.
  • Strong C++ programming skills, with practical experience in performance-sensitive applications.
  • Good understanding of low latency system design, performance tuning and latency measurement techniques.
  • Experience with high-throughput messaging systems, middleware or event-driven architectures.
  • Familiarity with Linux, networking concepts and multicast/unicast protocols.
  • Experience in automated testing, benchmarking or performance monitoring for complex systems.
  • Python or scripting experience for tooling, test automation or operational support would be advantageous.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, analyse performance data and work collaboratively with senior technical colleagues.
