About the role:
This position will play a key role in setting and executing strategy for the Structural Heart Valves, Renal Denervation, and Interventional Heart Failure franchises based on solid understanding of our markets, customers and technologies. This individual contributor will be an expert on the points of view and process for understanding the marketplace, identifying market trends and growth opportunities, diagnosing customer needs, and behaviors, predicting likely competitive dynamics, and analyzing the economics of the business so that marketing can make effective choices to maximize competitive advantages. This is a technically demanding role requiring an in-depth knowledge of Structural Heart Valves, Renal Denervation, and Interventional Heart Failure disease states and regulatory environments, as well as strong analytical skills and strategic thinking as we continue to develop the strategy and pipeline investments in these exciting and growing markets.
Work Mode:
- At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week at our Maple Grove facility.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead market modeling, market analysis and data gathering.
- Demonstrate command of key business trends and market conditions through market research, clinical literature, metrics, coordination with customer interfacing teams and personal interaction with key customers.
- Partner with finance on the development and ongoing refinement of franchise market models.
- Develop an understanding of current and future market dynamics and the competitive landscape.
- Monitor, track and report out on competitive activities (e.g., trials, marketing, etc.) and timelines.
- Manage the acquisition and synthesis of third-party sales data.
- Coordinate and execute the gathering of internal and external feedback.
- Conduct analysis of competitor activities, customer needs, technology, disease states, clinical data, etc.
- Conduct marketing research projects as needed to gather insights to drive decision-making.
- Communicate the above relevant topics to the franchise on a regular basis with franchise leadership.
- Lead/influence agenda development, content creation and presentations for Advisory Boards and other internal meetings as needed.
- Business Planning, Supporting key business planning processes including Portfolio and Investment Boards, Annual Operating Plans and Strategic Plan.
- Partner with finance to develop long-range forecasts and NPVs for new products and new product concepts to inform investment decisions.
- Lead Business Development marketing due diligence efforts in collaboration with cross functional team including providing input on special projects on an ad hoc basis.
- Coordinate activities that enable development of a global portfolio plan including: Conduct market and product opportunity assessment, strategy formulation and valuation for new products developed in-house, potential acquisitions and growth opportunities.
- Drive the prioritization of portfolio planning partnering with Program Management leaders through analytical approaches, including but not limited to: qualitative/quantitative market research, obtaining KOL insights, acquisition of third-party data and/or reports, interpretation of clinical data.
- Monitor portfolio and recommend adjustments to project investment strategy when appropriate.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or Healthcare/Biomedical required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in business strategy/analytics, product marketing or consulting experience in the healthcare field required
- Prior strategic planning and product development experience
- Extensive experience building market and revenue models Experience leading market research activities
- Experience leading large cross-functional meetings including complex projects and internal strategic meetings
- Willing to travel ~10%, some international travel may be required
Preferred qualifications:
- MBA strongly preferred
- Excellent analytical and communication and interpersonal skills to mobilize key stakeholders and engage leadership
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment and partner with internal/external stakeholders Ability to engage and influence cross-functional colleagues, even without direct reporting relationships
