As MS SQL Database Administrator, you will help develop and manage the database systems that power the ServiceChannel SaaS software. You will build highly available, redundant, scalable, and high performing database systems to support our tremendous growth. You will manage the systems to keep them running at peak performance levels. You will have the chance to learn on the job while sharing your own experience and expertise. You will work closely with other members of our database administration team and the development and infrastructure teams to successfully deploy solutions that meet requirements and exceed expectations.
Responsibilities
Administer database systems across Production, Staging, QA, and Development environments
Recognize system deficiencies, diagnose performance issues, and implement effective solutions
SQL Server replication and cluster construction
Plan and implement disaster recovery
Database sharding and tuning
Monitor and report on database availability and performance
Optimize stored procedures, triggers, and functions
Optimize database schemas, views, and indexes
Data Warehousing, archival, and backup
Database change deployment process
Database maintenance and on call rotations
Generate code to extract, transform, and load data from/to production data sources from/to external sources (excel, text comma and tab delimited files, other Access, SQL databases, XML, etc)
Write code and create jobs to automate repetitive tasks
Work alone and in a group
Research problems independently
Establish and enforce coding standards
Implement, maintain, and audit database security and encryption
Plan growth and changes (capacity planning)
Resource governing
Experience, Skills & Education
3 years plus of experience as DBA expected
Light database administration expertise is acceptable given strong SQL development skills
Proficiency writing and optimizing Transact SQL, stored procedures, functions, performing bulk set operations (select/insert/update/delete) in MS SQL 2008 and newer
Detailed knowledge of relational database concepts
Recent experience with SQL Server 2008 (2019/2022 a plus)
Building and administering MS SQL Server Database Systems a major plus
Knowledge of SQL Server replication and clusters in Cloud environments a major plus
Knowledge of principles of database design, data acquisition, and data access analysis and design
Experience with SSIS and SSRS a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrate ability to work in a small group setting to rapidly develop new and enhance existing systems
A BS degree in business or computer science, comparable work experience accepted
