Job description

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all quantity surveying and commercial activities across assigned project packages, ensuring effective cost control, contract administration, valuation, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle. The role supports commercial performance, risk mitigation and contractual compliance on large-scale construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage pre- and post-contract quantity surveying activities for assigned projects/packages.
  • Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQ), tender documentation, and commercial evaluations.
  • Review contractor submissions including interim valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Monitor project costs against approved budgets and identify cost risks, trends, and mitigation measures.
  • Administer contracts in accordance with project requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Evaluate and negotiate variation orders, change requests, and contractual claims.
  • Support procurement and tendering processes, including bid analysis and recommendation reports.
  • Ensure accurate measurement, valuation, and certification of works completed.
  • Prepare periodic commercial reports, cost forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Liaise with project teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve commercial issues.
  • Support dispute avoidance and claims resolution through proactive contract management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, commercial procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Mentor junior quantity surveyors and provide technical guidance where required.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in large-scale building, infrastructure, or mixed-use development projects.
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC and standard forms of contract.
  • Experience in cost planning, contract administration, claims, and final account settlement.
  • Membership or certification with professional bodies such as RICS is preferred.
  • Regional/GCC project experience is highly desirable.
