Senior Quality Engineering Manager

G&A Solutions Engineering (GSE) is IS&T's dedicated technology partner for Apple's general and administrative functions — including people, finance, facilities, legal, and security. The team builds and delivers integrated technology solutions that keep these functions running efficiently and securely at global scale. GSE also works closely with business teams to develop custom tools that improve productivity and bring greater automation and consistency to G&A operations across Apple.

Description

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, hands-on, dynamic, and detail oriented individual with a strong technical background and proven leadership experience. This position requires an individual to be able to manage a team, guide senior engineers, and work cross-functionally to coordinate testing efforts and complex project delivery for applications within a complex mobile, desktop, and cloud client/server ecosystem.

Minimum Qualifications

10+ years of experience in software quality engineering, with at least 4 years in a dedicated people management and leadership role.
Proven track record of managing teams of junior to senior quality engineers across multiple product lines, focused on test automation and quality assurance.
Minimum 5 years of experience working with geographically located teams across different time zones.
Strong in analytical problem solving and looking beyond whats obvious. Proven bug detection and regression skills.
Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven track record of building AI-driven tools that deliver measurable efficiency gains across functional and automated testing.
Hands-on experience with AI-augmented or autonomous testing tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or Functionize).
Experience leading SDETs and Senior Quality Engineers, providing hands-on guidance and recommendations on complex technical aspects and framework architecture.
Must have implemented and applied Continuous Integration (CI) successfully, with experience operating software build and deploy tools like Jenkins, Maven, and Git.
Experience in Java, and scripting languages (Python, Perl, PHP, or similar).
Implemented testing in complex Unix/Linux environments, relational databases, and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra). Experience with Docker and Kafka is highly desirable.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience testing on Mac OS, iOS (mobile apps), and cloud-based technologies (AWS, GCP).
Must have a working knowledge of SQA methodologies and practices, including experience reporting and tracking bugs and third-party issues.
Partner with global teams, development managers, and other teams to organize testing responsibilities, and to drive strategic initiatives.
