Job description

Duck Creek Technologies is the intelligent solutions provider defining the future of the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry. Our modern SaaS platform enables insurers to run agile, cloud-based operations and deliver better customer experiences.

Duck Creek is a flexible-first company, offering employees autonomy in how they manage their work. As part of our Flying Together approach, we are thoughtfully increasing opportunities for in-person collaboration by focusing on hiring in designated locations. This role is aligned to a specific location, and you’ll partner with your leader to participate in meaningful in-person moments that support team connection and collaboration.

ABOUT VISTA
Duck Creek Technologies is a portfolio company of Vista Equity Partners, a global investment firm that partners with mission-critical enterprise software and technology-enabled businesses to drive growth and operational excellence. As part of a Vista portfolio company, you’ll work in an environment backed by deep expertise, long-term investment, and a strong commitment to building market-leading businesses and meaningful careers.
POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Senior Product Manager, Platform Services, you will play a strategic product leadership role responsible for the market-facing, cross-product, and executive-facing dimensions of Duck Creek’s Platform Services organization. You will own the product strategy for a set of Platform Services domains—including eventing, data movement, notifications, and the developer platform—and serve as deputy for the broader Platform Services strategic layer, including market analysis, customer QBRs, cross-product planning, and launch readiness.

This is a strategy-first role. Day-to-day backlog execution is owned by dedicated product owners aligned to each domain; this role sets direction, evaluates market and competitive context, and represents Platform Services in executive and customer-facing conversations. You are expected to operate with genuine proactiveness and research instinct, not just execute a handed-down roadmap.WHAT YOU’LL DO

Own the product strategy and roadmap for assigned Platform Services domains, including eventing, data movement, notifications, developer platform, and related shared services, in partnership with dedicated product owners who run day-to-day execution.
Define domain priorities in AHA!, balancing customer commitments, technical modernization, and strategic initiatives.
Partner with engineering leadership on domain sequencing, particularly through periods of organizational or geographic team transition.
Serve as the strategic decision point for cross-domain trade-offs, escalating and resolving conflicts between domain priorities before they reach the execution layer.
Act as deputy for the Platform Services strategic layer, supporting cross-product planning, roadmap consolidation, and launch readiness across the full Platform Services portfolio.
Prepare and deliver executive-facing roadmap narratives, strategic decks, and briefings for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Represent Platform Services in customer-facing Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), translating customer and market input into roadmap implications.
Conduct market and competitive research to inform product strategy, surfacing trends and threats before they become urgent.
Promote and evangelize Platform Services adoption across the broader Duck Creek product suite, building the case for shared solutions based on cost, consistency, and speed-to-market.
Build and maintain relationships with product line leaders to influence their roadmaps toward Platform Services adoption.
Partner with dedicated product owners to ensure strategic direction translates into well-scoped, executable roadmap items without permanently absorbing backlog or sprint-level ownership.
Support product owners with market context, prioritization frameworks, and executive air cover when domain decisions require escalation.
Maintain a clear line between strategic ownership and product owner execution, especially during team transitions or coverage gaps.
Identify and evaluate opportunities where agentic AI technology can solve real business or developer-experience problems within Platform Services.
Translate agentic/LLM opportunities into concrete product requirements and roadmap decisions.
Stay current on agentic workflow patterns, Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication, and their implications for platform extensibility and developer experience.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Clear product strategy and direction across assigned Platform Services domains while maintaining effective partnership with product owners responsible for execution.
Market, competitive, customer, and QBR signals are proactively translated into roadmap decisions.
Cross-domain priorities and trade-offs are identified and resolved at the strategic layer.
Platform Services strategy is communicated effectively across executive, customer, technical, and product audiences.
Strong relationships with product line leaders help drive adoption of shared Platform Services solutions across the Duck Creek product suite.
Agentic AI opportunities are evaluated based on real business and developer-experience problems and translated into actionable product direction.

WHAT YOU’VE DONE

Bachelor’s degree, or higher education level, or its foreign equivalent, in software engineering, computer science, or a related field.
8–12 years of related professional experience in product management, with demonstrated progression into strategic or senior-level product ownership within enterprise software; equivalent experience with Duck Creek Technologies products or P&C insurance platform environments will be considered.
Demonstrated experience owning platform or infrastructure product strategy—shared services, API governance, observability, or extensibility—at a strategic rather than purely execution level.
Experience representing product strategy in executive-facing and customer-facing settings, including business reviews, roadmap presentations, and cross-functional planning.
Track record of proactive, self-directed product leadership, identifying and driving initiatives rather than only executing assigned scope.

PREFERRED

Working knowledge of P&C insurance core systems (policy, billing, or claims) and carrier operational workflows.

SKILLS & CAPABILITIES

Ability to set product strategy and direction for a platform domain while partnering effectively with product owners who run day-to-day execution.
Genuine market and research instinct, including competitive awareness, customer/QBR-style synthesis, and the ability to translate external signals into internal roadmap decisions.
Demonstrated proficiency with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or equivalent for research, requirements elaboration, writing, and analysis.
Working familiarity with LLM concepts, agentic workflow patterns, and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication, including identifying platform applications that solve real business or developer-experience problems.
Working knowledge of API design patterns, breaking change policy, and deprecation sequencing as they apply to a carrier-facing product surface.
Understanding of extensibility frameworks and supporting carrier or developer customizations through a continuous delivery model.
Familiarity with observability concepts, including SLIs, SLOs, telemetry instrumentation, and alerting strategies.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills across technical, business, and executive audiences.
Strong project and stakeholder management skills, including managing multiple competing strategic priorities without sacrificing quality or missing commitments.
Proven ability to influence cross-functional and cross-geography teams without formal authority.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with product management tooling such as AHA!, ADO, or equivalent.
