Senior Nutanix Engineer (L3)

The Nutanix SME (L3/L4) is a senior technical specialist responsible for providing expert-level support, administration, and optimization of Nutanix-based infrastructure within a managed services environment. The role focuses on ensuring the stability, performance, availability, and security of enterprise hybrid cloud and hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) environments through proactive monitoring, incident resolution, troubleshooting, and continuous service improvement.

Acting as the highest level of technical escalation for Nutanix platforms, the SME will work closely with clients, internal engineering teams, vendors, and project stakeholders to resolve complex infrastructure issues, implement changes, support transformation initiatives, and deliver contracted managed services outcomes. The role may also contribute to modernization projects involving virtualization, cloud, backup, disaster recovery, automation, and infrastructure optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary Level 3/Level 4 escalation point for Nutanix platform-related incidents, problems, and service requests.
• Provide expert administration, support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for:
  • Nutanix AOS
  • Prism Central / Prism Element
  • AHV Hypervisor
  • Nutanix Files, Objects, and Volumes
  • Nutanix Calm and Automation solutions
  • Nutanix Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions
• Monitor and maintain infrastructure health, performance, capacity, and availability across customer environments.
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex infrastructure, virtualization, storage, compute, and networking issues within agreed SLAs.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for critical and recurring incidents and implement preventive measures.
• Review escalated incidents and provide timely ticket updates, documentation, and resolution details.
• Collaborate with vendors including Nutanix, VMware, Microsoft, AWS, and third-party technology partners for issue resolution.
• Support and execute infrastructure changes, upgrades, patches, migrations, and maintenance activities following ITIL best practices.
• Design, implement, and test backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Support hybrid cloud and multi-cloud integrations involving Azure, AWS, and private cloud environments.
• Proactively identify opportunities for automation, operational efficiency, and continuous service improvement.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, knowledge articles, and runbooks.
• Mentor L1, L2, and junior L3 engineers by providing technical guidance and knowledge transfer.
• Participate in on-call support and major incident management activities when required.
• Contribute to project delivery, infrastructure transformation programs, and new technology implementations.
• Conduct technical reviews, health checks, capacity planning, and infrastructure assessments.

Qualifications & Certifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience Required

• 7+ years of experience in Infrastructure, Virtualization, Cloud, or Managed Services environments.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience managing and supporting Nutanix HCI platforms in enterprise environments.
• Strong experience supporting business-critical production systems with 24x7 operational requirements.
• Experience in infrastructure transformation, migration, and cloud adoption initiatives is highly desirable.
